Several weeks ago, I came home to find our 7-year-old, who has always had an adorable gap between his front teeth, now has a chasm. Shortstack lost his front tooth at school. And the only thoughts that went though my mind were:
1) OHHHHH! His cute little gap is gone!
2) OH NO!!!! He’s getting BIG-people teeth! MY BABY’S GROWING UP! <insert pouting and whining here>
Thankfully, I have a wife who’s really good at keeping me in check when it comes to my maternal instinct to fight the natural passage of time and the corresponding growth of our child. Panda is the rock in our household about celebrating Shortstack’s growing-up-milestones. And then she’s the rock when I lean over into her shoulder and bawl like a baby because our baby is having growing-up-milestones!
He’s quite a cutie, isn’t he?
Just in case you didn’t get the memo, it is the month of love and hearts and astronomically over-priced hothouse roses. Our little family has a whole ton of love to celebrate during the month of love and hearts. Truth be told, we tend to celebrate our whole ton of love every month but we’re sharing it with friends and family this month. Our little expressions of “I love you” tend to lean towards little notes, crocheted bookmarks for classmates and home-cooked meals. But all with a whole ton of heart invested in our little creations. We’re hoping that each of you are surrounded with love this month … remember, it doesn’t have to (nor should it) be isolated to one day of love!
Happy hearts and love, our peeps!
